About us
Our Vision
Our goal with VIScon is to inspire students to innovate and push the boundaries of what is
possible. Having experienced that there is so much more to computer science and related fields
than what could ever be covered during the lectures. We invite you on a journey to explore what
lies beyond the lecture halls. We aim to turn students into visionaries by providing them with a
platform to openly exchange ideas and discuss current problems and potential solutions with
experts, hoping that this will help them solve crucial challenges and make a difference.
In contrast to the VIS Kontaktparty, which is the largest academic IT recruiting fair in
Switzerland, VIScon's main focus lies on engaging talks, exciting workshops and interesting
discussions. We believe that such interactions, accompanied by company presentations at the
Kontaktparty, are one of the best ways to connect with the next generation of computer
scientists and build a valuable network. Hundreds of tech-enthusiasts, hackers, theoreticians
and hobbyists will attend this year's Symposium on the 11th of October either in person or
virtually to listen to talks, take part in workshops and gain valuable insights. We would love
for you to be one of them!
VIS
For the more than 2400 Bachelor's and Master's students in Computer Science, Data Science and
Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, the VIS is the first point of contact for events,
excursions, study support and representation vis-à-vis the Department of Computer Science at ETH
Zurich. This includes a large number of events ranging from our traditional summer barbecue to
Switzerland's largest academic IT job fair, the "Kontaktparty".
